it was feeding time and she didn't eat all, i took of the pallets she didn't eat, don't worry, I'll feed her less next time.

Her name is Joana Clear, i have her since she was a literal egg (i used to breed bettas in a very small scale), now i have just her in a 5g and she is extremely active to the point when the light are on she doesn't stop roaming through her little home.
She lives here since she was 2 months, a baby girl, she was so small, miss that times. I tried to upgrade to a 6 months cicled 10g 4 months ago, she did not like at all, didn't eat for a week and showed signs of stress. I did the rigth thing and put her back in her little home, next day she was eating and being a active good girl again.
7 march is her 1 year birthday and she never got sick or something else. I think it is because i took care of her grandparents and parents, so her genetics are 10/10.

So, what you guys think of the tank my girl refuses to get out of?

  1. Do you have a picture of the 10g tank you put her in?
I’m asking because I feel like this tank is pretty bare and bright: too little plants, (therefore) not enough hiding/shadow spots.

It also takes time for them to get used to a different tank. But a lot of plants and hiding spots so they can feel safe helps. I also would add (spider)wood and/or catappa leaves to get some tannins in the water.

  2. Looks pretty good, but I would add more for her to explore, and a big indian almond leaf on the surface of the water. That will give her some much needed shade. It will also add tannins to the water to make the water a little brown. Bettas love dark water and, the tannins will soothe her, and make her more comfortable. She’s super cute.🩷

  3. i think some floating plants would make a big difference! frogbit has bigger leaves and very long tendrils that will reach all the way to the bottom and she can swim through. silvania grows faster but doesnt have that depth. water lettuce has bigger bushier roots. just be sure it never covers more than 50%-75% of the water so she can come up for air. i have air holes made from circles of airline tubing 🙂

if she’ll tolerate it, i think a tall piece of mopani or savannah wood would look great in there. it’ll darken the water for her and provide some more interest to the tank. you can even go a step further and use string to tie some moss to it. if she hates it then remove it, but i definitely would add floaters

some catappa/indian almond leaves crushed up and added as leaf litter will also add tannins to darken the water, and it has mild antibiotic/antifungal properties. itll float at first then after a day or two theyll sink to the bottom.
