This is Sangria, I have had her for about a month. She is currently in a 20g tall with some yellow neos, two mystery snails, and a few pygmy corydoras that don’t come out of hiding often. I’ve never had a female betta before, just the long finned fellas a long time ago- this girl is ACTIVE! She never stops moving, and I can’t tell if she’s glass surfing or having fun exploring. She also has dark patches on her head now that weren’t there when I got her— not sure if it’s her color coming in, or a problem I need to address. She hasn’t shown any aggression and has been exceptionally curious, but now I’m wondering if it’s too much open space for her or something. Thoughts?
Parameters are stable, tank is kept at 78, and she has been mostly fed fluval betta bug bites, fluval tropical sinking formula meant for the cories, and any wafers the shrimp and snails don’t snap up. She likes to chase her food and typically loses interest when she’s full. I’ll supplement with bloodworms and other protein soon, still building up my stash of food for her.

There is barely anything to explore in the tank. If she does this even if you are not around then it’s glass surfing.
It’s a massive tank with no shade or resting spots or places to hide. Probably stressed and overwhelmed.
Maybe more plants and tankmates like cories if that’s your kinda thing. Definitely not glass surfing so that’s always a good sign.
Huge tank. She needs hammocks and hides.
