I have 9 running tanks, used to be 12 trying to downsize cause it’s all so much. This does not include a Hospital tank. I started all of this a few years ago when I was really young like 13, I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t know how to research properly and my parents had had fish before me so I assumed they knew what they were talking about. When I would get fish, I didn’t know to quarantine them, so I’m pretty sure I have lingering parasites in three of my community tanks, 55gallons with two angelfish, a bunch of guppies a pleco and a school of Cory’s. My 40 gallon has an angelfish, a massive school of guppies and two Plecos. And my 29 gallon, which has a bunch of male guppies and some Neocaridina shrimp. I don’t know how to get rid of these parasites because at this point, there’s too many fish to move to a hospital tank, and I don’t wanna kill my plants with medication. I’m currently just loading my tanks with tannins and occasional aquarium salt to keep things at bay. My best guess on what the parasite is, is callanus worms, I don’t think I’m spelling it right, but they’re those red worms that stick out the anal. I don’t visibly see any of that, but I do see wasting disease on a few of my life bearers. Any advice? Also I’d like to mention that my tapwater has 0.5 ammonia in it so it’s been super difficult to do anything Hospital tank related, please keep that in mind with the responses, thanks:)

get root tabs for your plants and medicate the tanks anyways. one treatment shouldn’t eradicate the plant life in your tanks. better to be safe than sorry and lose all of your fish.

  2. Sounds like you need to get your hands on some fenbendazole , deworm all your fish in the tank. It’s best if they eat it. So you would need something that adheres the medication to the food. Like focus or something similar.

I got some f-flake and little pellets on eBay. I got some guppy fry and they have their own tank but one guppy died and had worms in it and one of the guppies has not grown much and is skinny despite the tank being full of live food and me feeding them so I know they have worms. I really don’t want it getting into my other tank because I have fish in the other tank that only eat live foods so I wouldn’t be able to cure them with the flake because they would not eat the flake. I got some fenbendozole, and another medication and also an ivermectin tube but apparently ivermectin is very strong and not recommended. So I will see I’m not sure if I will add that but I have been feeding them with the f flake.
