Hello! I recently got a betta (Gustavo) and I just want to make sure I am on the right track with him. I got him a 10 gallon which is (admittedly) probably taller than it should be but I tried to get him some additional hammocks to help him out.

He is very active in all parts of the tank and loves exploring every nook and cranny of the tank. The tank was cycled for 2 weeks with a bacteria startup and all water levels are normal (according to a master kit). He has 3 real java ferns, and 4 small grass plants that I forgot the name of.

Overall I am just looking for any feedback that I can do to add to his quality of life. I eventually want to add a few mystery snails, and hopefully in the next month, get more plants and remove the 2 artificial plants he has.

Thanks for any advice!!

  1. That’s awesome. What are the little plants with the little round leaves? I’m thinking of adding more plants to my tank.

  2. You’re doing great already, maybe some Indian almond leaves for tannins (one at a time so you don’t make it brown too fast. They like botanicals though a lot)… I was thinking about trying the floating mirrors for entertainment but haven’t yet.

Mystery snails are a great addition too. Maybe an amano shrimp to clean 😛

They get big and my bettas never mess with my Amanos at all

Can you send the link for the piece of wood in the middle? I want to get my bettta some driftwood but don’t want it to rip his fins!
