I bought my son what was called a Koi Galaxy plakat in October 2025. He has a lovely home in a heated, filtered, and planted 7 long. The first picture is when I got him in October and the second is from today. There is a gigantic black patch on his skin. Is this normal color change? It’s a little jarring. He seems normal happy and swimming and eating otherwise.

Ph 8-8.2 (had an issue with seiryu stone that is being worked on. Seiryu removed and water change schedule in play to diffuse. Tap ph is 7.6)
WC: 1x week to every 10 days. about 25-30%. Remove with cup. Refill with water treated with prime and stability.
No tank mates. He’s aggressive. Sometimes I’ll put some bladder snails in for him to hunt as enrichment.
Decorations: driftwood, plants, SpongeBob house (Ikik it’s my son’s tank. It is the only thing he’s allowed to have in there after I told him no to all the colorful rocks and decor. It’s a little give and take) + betta log

All his other colors are brighter now also. Looks Normal
The coloration changes normal. Very pretty transformation. Also, just an observation. How much are you feeding this Betta? Looks pretty rotund. Overweight fish are exposed to health issues, so just trying to be helpful.
