Q: I have a 6'6" Ugly Stik GX2 MH rod with a lew's mach 2 size 300 spinning reel with 15lb suffix 832 braided line and a 6'6" Daiwa crossfire 6'6" M rod with a lure rating of 1/8oz – 3/4oz, what rod do you all think is a better single grab and go rod for this reel for walking search fishing the banks?

Mixing plastics in a box and not in their packages feels illegal.
Either is good. I like the ugly stik combo. Will do a lot. Out of your tackle… I would throw the spoons, prop top waters and chatterbait with trailer. If none of them worked go to a Neko rig worm and work the bottom these days. (I’m in Pennsylvania) still too cold for us.
Temu spinners, mixed plastics, weid weighted hook with a face with a bait that has a face, Daiso (probably Temu) 40g jig with the treble hook still intact. You got a lot to learn, but it’s a journey.
You are not supposed to put a jighead on flukes. Use an EWG hook.
gold blade/gill color mini max chatter bait
mayor on the underspin head
white flukes but t-rig weightless
popper
if I were going fishing right now with your lures (I bass fish)
I would grab a chatterbait – color depends on water clarity, one of those senko’s – probably the green pumpkin color, and the craw colored square bill.
Rooster tails, lipless cranks and square bill
That is a very well rounded tackle selection… My lay I recommend a couple whopper ploppers or their cheaper alternative, berkley choppo?
I wouldn’t throw anything out, keep them all.
Those little bluegill colored square bills are the only lure that I have doubled up on before. Absolutely killer fishing below spillways and waterfalls for smallies. That shiner colored X rap has brought me a couple of muskies as well. Black jitterbug and white whopper plopper are both great. The chartreuse buzzbait does some serious work on LMB in the spring and fall. Paddle tails and flukes are always in the tackle bag as well. Chatterbaits only ever get me the occasional Muskie or catfish so I don’t fish them much but that’s location dependent! People swear by em
I would add some Colorado blade spinnerbaits and 3 inch grubs. The johnson silver minnow is a great bait in the weeds with curly tailed grub on the back.
Kind of depends on what you’re fishing for.
Trout or pike- I’d be throwing the little cleos or the mepps
Walleye- shad raps or x rap or paddle tails
Bass- I’d be throwing the flukes or chatterbaits
Im gonna take the zooms off those jig heads put them on weightless 3/0 EWG hooks, and fish them over submerged vegetation.
Absolutely crushes every time.
Cast da Mepps!
