Waddled down to the lake and threw out my minnow trap with bread. The pond is man-made with a large bubbler so I threw it in the only nom-frozen area. Ducks and geese were annoyed with me.
Are these commonly stolen? I’ve been told to watch and make sure my traps aren’t snagged but I’m leaving it overnight for best results.
Image is the view of the little lake from my yard.

I’ve had mine stolen right off my own property while in the water 3 times. Only caught them once! It’s a felony here in N. California apparently because it’s that bad!
Never had one stolen but I think a small creek or river it’s easier to hide a trap vs like a community pond .
Keep in mind you don’t have to tie it off to something on shore at a lake or use a rope etc , if you take a brick or even find a tree root growing into the water, just submerge it with a few rocks in it to keep it at the bottom then using thicker fishing line to tie it off underwater and people likely won’t even find it .
I have had enough of mine stolen that I don’t put it out and leave anymore. I fish while I have the trap in the water.
