Redington classic trout 3 wt 7’6” w/ Battenkill click II & SA creek trout line. I have a TFO NXT black 5 wt that I learned on. Just took this rig outside and almost wept. It’s so smooth and light yet delicate and accurate—line just floats away like an angel is carrying it. Can’t wait to use it!

  1. I just got this exact same setup, and can’t wait to get out with it now that the creeks near me have thawed out.

  2. I have a 6’6″ 2wt that I built, and I will say, it really taught me finesse. It doesn’t take a lot to load the rod so you get a lot gentler with your casting. You really get to feel what its like to load your rod. Helped with understanding my presentation too. Plus a 5-6″ brookie feels like a 14″ fighter on them. Have fun!

  3. Nice! I just got a classic trout 2wt with a maxcatch click and pawl to save some scratch and paired it with a Rio dt. I’m very happy so far

This is my exact setup, down to the line. Fishing small streams for native wild brook trout with this and an elk hair caddis dry with a pheasant tail dropper is far and away the closest thing to perfection that I’ve ever experienced in any area of my life.

I’ve also got a TFO NXT 9′ 5wt that I bring out for more open and bigger water sometimes, and it casts nicely, but if I’m holding a rod that isn’t a 7’6″ 3wt Classic, I’m not quite as happy as I could be.

I have this exact same set up for my 3 wt lol. Probably one of the best set ups you can get for the price. I’ve never even considered upgrading
