





Dozens of peacock bass have been dying in this pond in Pompano Beach, FL. There has been an algal bloom that I thought might be related. Also, the cold front a few weeks ago forced quite a few iguana to drown in the pond and they have just been floating there since then it seems. Maybe bacteria from the rotting iguanas is causing it somehow? I really don’t know.

Oops, I forgot to mention the sheen I saw on the surface in pic 2, but there is not much of it
They are a tropical species and do not tolerate low water temperatures. They will die when the water drops below 60 degrees F.
It was the cold front that came through recently for sure.
