Caught this whitefish, same conditions as the bass I caught yesterday (about 10ft from yesterday's bass hole lol). 5lbs 9oz. Anybody eat these? Any prep/cooking tips? We're thinking of trying it on the grill, whole, minus the head/guts and scales of course lol. Or maybe fileted and fried?
Only 3 perch so far today but they were small so they ended up going back. Hopefully we can run into a school of them.

Great cooked with any method- especially smoked. The red meat along the skin is less desirable, and typically cut-off. Meaty flesh like salmon, but not so strong-flavored. They have pinbones, like salmon.
I filet and fry. Be sure to watch video on cleaning as there are pin bones you gotta get out. Also be sure not to let it freeze or meat gets super soft and mushy. I think whitefish is fantastic to catch and also eat
Smoked whitefish on a bagel is incredible. I also love to pan fry it and make a whitefish sandwich. I use a toasted ciabata bun, lemon dill aoli, lettuce and tomato on the sandwich and season the fish with salt, pepper, lemon pepper, and dill. Thats my favorite way to do it myself since i dont have the ability to smoke them.
I like to fry (batter or panko) or baked with herbs and butter and lemon.
Heard they are food smoked, but have never tried it myself.
