We just adopted this fish. I was told that it looked different before. See photos.

Is this fin rot or stress or biting fin to swim, because there's a bubbler in the tank and the previous owner did full tank water changes. Hence why we've taken it on.

Currently in a 3 gallon tank (my guess), heater set to 25C, filter that came with the kit.

Thanks!

What's the best way to help fins grow back?

  1. I’m not a expert but I’m like 70% it’s fin rot. Get some antibacterial medecine like kanaplex or esha 2000. For the future I recommend you get a bigger tank and look up the nitrogen cycle and common sicknesses

Even if it’s not fin rot, the medication might help and won’t hurt. Personally I don’t see fin rot there, just less than symmetrical fins, and I do think Betta owners over-stress about fin rot. But try him on the meds, it might help and prove me completely wrong!
