My wife collected a number of seashells on our vacation and wants to add some of them and a few larger pieces of corral to our aquarium at home. What do we need to do to make sure we aren't introducing anything harmful? Thanks!

You know who’d love those seashells? The sea creatures that live at the beach where she took them from.
Cool. Be mindful that they will impact your water parameters (increase your ph and hardness)
If the aquarium is freshwater no, it’s not a good idea. The shells will leach minerals into the water (calcium and magnesium) and harden the water in an unpredictable uncontrolled way. This can impact fish negatively and cause issues with their metabolic function.
Items from saltwater are not found in freshwater as both water systems are totally different.
I’d just stick to using them as decor outside the aquarium.
