Looking for the best, rig for lake sturgeon in the North Saskatchewan river. Looking for ideas for bait, hook size, leader material, etc.

The best bait is just crawlers, maybe tipped with a fathead minnow. Cut bait can work (if it’s legal there)
A far as rod and reels, a MH or H catfish rod is the most preferred, along with a catfishing reel like a 6500 Ambassador or a 4000 or 5000 sized spinning reel. Line should be no less than 50# braid. I usually use a Carolina rig with a short 50# mono leader and enough weight to keep the bait in place. Use a 5/0 circle hook, pack it with crawlers and hope for the best
