I can't figure out how to help Bruce's fins. He had fin rot when we got him in August, and he had been treated with Bettafix before we moved him into this tank. And even though it was fully cycled by the time he was moved, we continued to notice his fins were looking more and more raggedy. A few weeks ago, I caught one of our peppered corydoras literally munching on Bruce's fins. 😳
So the corys got moved into the minnow tank, and Bruce went into the hospital tank with another round of medication. I also added Indian almond leaves to the big tank. It's been about 2 weeks since he came out of the hospital tank, and his fins aren't really looking any better. There are some almost transparent bits around the edges, but Idk if that's good or bad.
And he also seems…. idk upset maybe? He keeps swimming around the bottom of the tank checking out all the places the corys used to hang out. I'm probably reading too much into that though.
Tank is 20 gallon, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10-15 nitrate as of this morning. The corner filter was converted to a sponge filter and the heater is set to 25°c. I've been doing 25-30% water changes every 3 days, and the only living beings in there besides Bruce are 2 otos and a handful of bladder snails. And a crap load of plants, obviously.
Help?

The transparent bits might actually be fin regrowth, if they have black or red edges though it’s still fin rot. The temperature could be a smidge warmer but it’s probably okay. If he’s still got fin rot you could also try salt baths (aquarium salt). If his fins aren’t growing back but they aren’t getting worse he might be okay, sometimes fins just don’t grow back if they’re damaged, particularly on older fish.
