Servilleta (napkin in English) was the betta I tried saving from PetSmart about. He was a beautiful dumbo halfmoon.

I left on a trip from Monday to Wednesday, and when I came back he didn’t seem like himself, but nothing was obviously wrong. Fast forward to this morning he seemed just fine. As the afternoon progressed, his condition started to worsen quickly.

I went to my local aquarium store to buy Kanaplex, but sadly they didn’t have any. I bought aquarium salt instead, hoping it would help. When I got back home, he was already gone. I’ve never seen something decline that fast.

I buried him in my yard in a spot where the moonlight will hit, so he knows what his kind was named after.

I’ll probably take a break from the hobby while I figure out what my next plan should be.

Rest in peace, Servilleta. I hope you’re in a sea of brine shrimp and neon tetras (yes… he ate two).

  1. Losing a pet is never easy. I hope you find comfort in the fact you gave him a wonderful environment and life.
