1st pic it's me today with a 9.1 kgs carp (20lbs), 2nd pic a screen of a clip I sent to a friend because he couldn't believe I caught this on a shad, 3rd pic is the only one I have of my father with a fish, a big carp caught with cheese as a bait, 4th pic is one of the last times we went fishing toghether.
He passed away three weeks ago after a long illness and fished until he could (see 4th pic, he was a good carp angler) so me catching a carp right now has a particular taste.
It is also my first catch of 2026 and after my dad's departure, still cold here in north Italy, so this add to the strange circumstances, as carps really are quite lethargic when water is cold.
One of my strangest catch of all time for sure, I was going for pikes with a 4" shad on a jighead but the carp really went for it!
Thanks for your attention

Carp are pound for pound, the toughest fighting freshwater fish. They also have weird behavior sometimes, they go from very docile and being put off by the slightest wrong movement on your line or you turning your head wrong when sight fishing them to chasing down baits and eating them. Nice Common!
