We just got this tank today! We filled it with water and I was just checking the tank and noticed this in the corner. It is only on the outside but don’t know if it is something to worry about. Please let me know!

  1. Yep you’ll need a new one. Did you help start this tank with materials from another tank? If not then you should wait a few days minimum before adding fish. Cycling often takes a minimum of 2 weeks

  2. Are you able to tell whether its a crack or just stray silicon? I have a similar marking on my 20 gallon long I spotted at the store and noticed basically every one of them had the same.

Is it a crack, or stray silicone?

If it’s a crack, then any impact or shift could theoretically send that all the way through, and down the whole front of your tank. It’s holding at this second, but could go at literally any moment.

I hope you cycled it for the betta but you say this like you just started the tank :/

Also if you have an algae scraper razor, slide it on the crack, it could be silicone, I had a scare like that once, turned out as silicone,

  5. Nah the famously weak tape you applied will definitely hold it together 😂

I’m assuming it’s not just a piece of the upper rim that got attached there? Like a bit of plastic that’s stuck to the glass? If it’s a crack or scratch return it.
