Hello, I got my beautiful boy Nexus today.
Nexus seemed very calm from the get-go at the pet store, but freaked out when netted (100% a given, i would freak out too T_T ) and bagged, and was spooked the whole way home. Since then he seemed to calm down a little when I acclimated and added him to my tank, but now he's just glass-surfing sort of, and getting random spurts of energy and just.. darting?
I have a 10 gallon tank with Fluval substrate, lavarocks, driftwood, amazon swords, christmas moss, spiked moss, and some floaters that are similar to duckweed but not as.. infectious. I turned the strength of my filter down, and my temperature seems fine! I checked my water just this morning before leaving to go pick him up too, everything seemed okay.
(PH 6, low I know but I've added mineral stones & a tablespoon of crushed coral recently to slowly raise it overtime. It's been steadily at 6, though. I've been told stability over anything else, don't chase crazy levels. My nitrates were also around 10-20 PPM, where its been stable, however I might introduce more plants to lower it a bit.. Nitrites is 0 and Ammonia was BARELY 0.25 PPM if not at all.) I was cleared by two fish stores and assured I was all good to add some fellas in.
Nexus has three tank-makes – a mystery snail (Doug), thorned zebra nerite snail (unnamed, Baby), and a zebra-onion nerite snail (Tiger), who were there before him. Nexus doesn't seem bothered by them, and in fact seems to be curious of them! All of them are bigger than his mouth so I'm not really worried about them being eaten. I watched on and off for a few hours to make sure he wasn't being aggressive with them, and he actually ate a pellet that I popped in after the few hours, as told by the fish store.
Am I just over-worrying? I've been super nervous to get into the hobby and own any other pet that wasn't a land snail. I've been told he'll be okay, he just needs to settle down, but I feel like there's more I can do to make him comfortable. I am so in love with this fish, I would hate to see him uncomfortable with me or in general. I don't want to do anything wrong and I want Nexus to know that he, Doug, Tiger, and Baby are loved immensely. 🙁

Glass surfing is extremely common, if not, guaranteed to occur within first couple days of you getting a betta. I mean, you put him in a completely new environment he still needs to get used to. In terms of tabkmates, the snails seem completely fine. But just watch of if they start to overpopulate (although I sont even think they can breed as they are different species)
It’s normal for fish to show slightly strange behavior for up to two weeks after being introduced.
By the way, make sure your nerite snails don’t starve.
You have nothing to worry about friend, hes probably enjoying having the space to zip around and explore, mine did the exact same thing. Hes eating and not being aggressive to the others, that means hes comfortable with his home. Id keep watching for a bit, but dont be surprised if theres no change, and he just gets the zoomies and darts around his tank. My guy for whatever reason LOVES thrashing around in grass, first couple times i legit thought he was dying (death rattles) but then hed stop and swim around his favorite lap and do it again lmao. I’d also check and make sure “he” isn’t actually a “she” as he looks like my GFs female, Who acts like a racecar around our 30gal 🤣
