Hello 👋 I went over to a friends house and saw that this little guy was in bad condition. I know nothing about bettas and really need some advice. She allowed me to take him home so I bought a whole new setup at the pet store and asked an employee for help. He sent me home with a conditioner specifically for betta and I ordered testing kits that come in tomorrow. Please tell me how i can save him or if it’s even possible. I’m not sure of what I’m seeing is Ammonia burns? I tried my hardest to get a good view but poor thing just keeps trying to hide.

Hard to tell from the pic. But the ends of his fins are a little twisty, water quality probably isn’t good also considering all the bubbles against the glass. But here’s a guide of the basics you need to know! Look up ‘fish in cycle” and learn about the nitrogen cycle for tanks. Liquid test kits are best. It’s important to make your tank as natural as possible. Avoid bright colored and artificial decor. Get nutrient rich gravel and love plants.

Keep the water low in toxins and clean. Depending on how small the tank is daily water changes and testing may be required.
