Hi, I just discovered this mucus algea thing on my filter. Is this harmful for my fish? Or should I just leave it?

rinse it off with tank water during your next water change. it will gunk up the mechanics of the filter

Poop + algae + mulm (aka detritus)
That’s the build up of everything in your tank water you don’t normally see being caught by the filter. Rinse it off like the other guy said as it clogs your filter over time and that’s part of regular maintenance.
