Bought a second hand tank 90gal and it started leaking once it was filled. Had it filled for about a day before waking up to water around the bottom edge, before this had it filled halfway for 2 days no leaking. Most of the leaking is on either side, with some smaller leaks on the front and back. We got this tank for $200 second hand (working with a tight budget, 4 goldfish that desperately need an upgrade, goal is going to be a more natural planted tank). Looking for advice on next steps, should i try to reseal it? Should i cut my losses and resell as terrarium only? If I do what should I be looking out for so I can do my best to avoid this happening in the future? I know second hand tanks in general are a gamble

I had a second-hand tank, which was a 125 gallon spring a leak on me a couple years back. I had huge south american cichlids but not $1000 laying around to buy a new tank. I watched some diy tank resealing videos on YouTube and practiced a bit on a 10 gallon so I would be able to have a feel of it for the big tank.
Reseal it! It will be worth it. I believe a correctly resealed tank will last you approximately 10 years and I’ve heard from some people they can last up to 20! It’s super easy and a good learning experience if you’re true to the hobby and don’t want to be constantly purchasing new tanks.
I would say it’s worth resealing. I would certainly try it anyways!
Personally I would try to reseal it. Worst thing that happens is that you don’t get a complete seal and then try and resell it.
reseal!! it’s a pain to peel away the old silicone, but kind of satisfying if you have the time. applying the new silicone is the easiest part, waiting for it to dry is the hard part
but it’s definitely worth it to reseal it. a new tank would be way more than a tube of silicone
