Lol you should see the cost of other fancy fish. I got my samurai Betta for around $30 and thought it was a good deal.

I wish I could see what a $57.48 betta would look like 😅 but I would not be paying that price.

I bought my son’s at $50, and I thought it was a solid deal since I saw some other going up to $300. Honestly, the joy of getting him the one he wanted was we worth it.

Lol you’ve never been on aquabid or to a fish show price depends on quality and features just like with dogs and cats a breeder that produces show quality fish is going to get their coins because they probably paid a pretty penny for their pairings not to mention the entire process is costly and lots of work as it is and you risk them killing each other instead

Thats the average price in Canada. Depending on the type we pay $15-$90 for them.

I don’t think we get our Bettas from Sun Pet, just rodents/birds. But whoever is supplying them, keeps sending us halfmoon males under the code for “King Halfmoon” and they’re clearly not a king betta. But double the price lol I keep shorting the orders and saying they didn’t send the right fish. Which they aren’t, so. That or whoever is packing the orders is new af

I thought my betta was over priced at like 25 😅 but my kids wanted him

I got the same type for a little less then half that.

I sell Samurai bettas for $20, and females for $15. I should raise prices.

Normal for fancy fish honestly.
But just a heads up samurai betta are prone to having dragon scale genetics that make diamond eye disease common. So unless youre willing to eventually care for a blind fish id avoid them

But they put castoff plant clippings in the plastic takeout container, you see. That increases the price 10 fold. They paid 8 baht ($0.25), so they need to charge more for the fish you see

Surge pricing for bettas lol

My LFS has the bettas with prices anywhere from 6,99€ (basic female) to 29,99€ (usually fancy plakat or koi halfmoon). Most male bettas are either 7,99€ or 19,99€. And the funny thing is, the healthiest one from all of those was my 7,99€ veiltail boy😐

Pretty normal from what I’ve seen. $30-$60 at a LFS that isn’t Petsmart or Petco.

Is it a specific plakat bloodline? It can be a proper price for a domestic but it won’t be a mass produced one if it is.

Fancy and desirable breeds cost a lot more

it is just like any other thing that can be bought and sold. the higher the quality, and the more labor involved, the more expensive. you can find a restaurant that will charge 200 bucks for a burger.
there is a breeder that bred a bettafish, Thailand’s national fish, with literally a thai flag pattern of coloration. i believe it sold for thousands.

pretty normal if you arent “””rescuing””” a fish from petsmart
