Was this catch and release? If not don’t lay them in the dirt like that. Read up on what a slime coat is and why it’s vital for fish health. I know bass are hardier than trout but why make their life more difficult.

You’re supposed to grab it by the lip so it breaks the jaw when you hold it up with one hand while long arming so it looks gigantic. Be a man come on.

lol I love how everyone is rushing to the defense of an already diseased fish. Look at the gill plate! He’s already sick! Very cool catch OP! I personally would’ve harvested this so whatever sickness is on this fish doesn’t spread further, but the fact that you dropped him in the dirt absolutely does not mean this fish died. The average redditor is just insufferable. Glad you got to break free and wet a line today!
