I have 2 bettas, each in their own 5 gallon tanks. I want to put my short finned boy in the 5 long a the half moon in the bowed front 5 gallon. Can i just swap them without changing water etc besides the normal weekly change? I was gunna swap some plants over etc but in general is this ok/ safe??

Is there a reason for wanting to switch the tanks? My concern would be stressing them out. They have already established their territory in their tank so moving them to a completely new tank where nothing is familiar may cause a lot of stress. You will also need to do a good size water change before putting them in or they will be able to smell the scent of the other fish left behind. I once upgraded a fish’s tank and it caused so much stress he started nipping his fins which led to fin rot and eventually killed him. Unless there is a reason for wanting to switch their tanks, I’d say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. But that’s just my opinion
See no reason why it wouldn’t be fine! I’d put them in little containers and gradually add some of the new tank water to acclimate them over an hour. I’ve swapped my bettas between tanks, and never had any issues. (Also love plakats heck yeahh)
