I was thinking about going tomorrow around 1-5, I’m fishing in a friends pond tomorrow. We are not the best at weather analyzing for fish. Wednesday will be better temp wise, but the itch to fish is real.

  1. I’m sure there is real science behind fishing with the right weather, but honestly I don’t even bother with taking it seriously and fish whenever I want. There is a ton of walleye lakes where I live, and technically speaking the best time to fish for them is in the early morning and sunset, but I don’t feel like fishing at 5am or so late in the evening, despite that I’ve still caught plenty of walleye mid day!

  2. It’s raee that I look at a forecast and decide not to fish

It doesn’t look like you’re getting a hurricane

Tides won’t matter in a pond. Barometric pressure isn’t a reliable predictor for whether fish will be biting or not. For over 60 years, every time I thought I had fish figured out, they made a fool of me. Only thing I know for sure is that you can’t catch anything if you don’t go. So go and enjoy!

Stop letting APPS dictate how you pursue the outdoors. You won’t be on your death bed saying “man I wish I woulda stayed home from fishing that day”

I’ve caught lots of fish in supposedly less-than-ideal conditions, and I’ve been skunked in supposedly ideal conditions. Just go fish.

You know how many fish you’ll catch tomorrow at the lake or river or whatever you’re going? Neither do I. But I do know how many fish you’ll catch sitting on your couch.

  7. Once you get some experience under your belt, youll be bale to better understand what weather works better or worse. Starting out, the best you can do is just go when you can and ***keep a logbook*** of your conditions and catches. Eventually youll get dialed in on the patterns.

I only fish salt, but I have gotten to a point when I know what weather conditions are favorable for different spots I fish. Some beaches produce when its flat, some aren’t worth fishing unless the weather is nasty, new moon is better for some things, full moon is better for others, etc.

  8. Fishing is always worth it.

The only day you are guaranteed not to catch any fish, is the one you don’t go fishing

  9. If I ever considered what you’re considering, I’d have missed out on a lot of good fishing days and a lot of good fish in my life…

  10. It’s always worth it. I have fished migratory fish at various moon phases and tides and some years I find a pattern, some years I don’t. It’s seldom the same year to year in my experience and I have sometimes had an amazing night of fishing on the “wrong” moon and or tide. One of the wonderful things about fishing is casting hope into the void and occasionally being rewarded at the least likely times.

  11. While we all love fishing, it is NOT always worth it to go. It does completely matter on weather conditions and atmospheric pressure. In a world where theres too many things to do, we have to prioritize. If you have nothing else to do, then yes, always go.

If youre fishing salt, the tide definitely matters. If youre fishing fresh, pressure definitely matters. Here in west coast FL, activity completely falls during the afternoon, its just not worth going between 11AM to 5PM.

  12. I go whenever I can. If I wasted my time trying to find “good fishing times” I would never have time to fish.

  13. I would be standing out in the cold and 2+ feet on snow do a bad day got me. But you can spend way too much time looking at stats. I would be rather out fishing. If I don’t catch anything no big deal. I definitely won’t catch anything sitting at home. So go for it. What have you got to lose?
