My line now has many of these cuts. Multiple are deeper than this. Anybody else had this happen?

  1. Can’t edit the post but wanted to add – I was super psyched to get a machined reel to *specifically* avoid this, as I fish a lot of lighter tippets too. Pretty damn disappointed given the price tag.

Looks like you have a big scratch leading to the edge on the bottom there. Is it sharp?

  3. It looks like it was dropped it on something hard and caused a divot in the reel. If that’s a little sharp, its likely the cause. Reach out to Lamson and see if they can do anything for you.

  4. Sorry that’s happened to you. I love the drag Lamson produces, it’s very smooth. This is one of the reasons I moved away from them. Line kept getting caught right there. Many times.

  5. That’s not reel damage, reel damage would go the other way and usually doesn’t cut that clean. That cut is super clean so totally from a sharp rock or snagged on something in your bag like nipper or something

  6. Sorry this is happening. Happened to me too on a diff reel. I mostly fixed mine issues with it by managing my line a little differently and taking off some of the backing. But, when it came time to order a quiver of reels i spent the few extra bucks and got lamson’s HD’s. Can’t happen with that style if reel.
