I’ve used 80 dollar rods and 200 dollar rods on the bank. I grab my 200 dollar rod every time I go

For bass fishing it def would work pretty well. PERSONALLY I’d go with a medium 7’ rod if you wanna toss lighter rigs like a dropshot or weightless flukes. Also with an ugly stick you’re giving up sensitivity. I’d go with a Dobyns maverick rod unless you’re planning on catfishing too. All this is really personal preference depending on what you plan on doing with the set up tho.

I have all 200+ rods and 250+ reels now. Honestly, never had an issue with a dicks $50 special when I travel on a plane to go fishing. You’ll notice sensetivity issues but at end of day not a biggie. If you’re using it every day I’m on the get the best you can afford and keep it forever boat

Okay, hear me out. Id probably not pick either of those options for that. But you can do it if you like how they look and dont care about performance per dollar. The BG MQ 3000 is quite a bit more reel in weight and saltwater capability than you really need for bass fishing. If you are going to spend about 200 on a reel a shimano ultegra 2500-3000 is what you should check out. Its got better line lay( slower oscillation) better and smoother drive train, and is lighter than the Bg3000 by about 2 ounces which is a noticeable difference. I recommend a 2500 for bass fishing but if you like the t knob get a 3k. The ultegra is just a far better value than anything daiwa has under 250.
For the rod, I would get a nicer rod than an ugly stik elite with the money that you save from getting an ultegra at $180 vs that BG MQ at 210. Im not going to give advice on which rod to get, but with an ugly stik you are usually trading low weight and sensitivity for durability. I dont know why people decide they want super bulletproof rod blanks but some think its awesome. I just dont get why you wouldnt want a lighter and more sensitive feel. Most likely you won’t snap a rod bank fishing if you are landing fish properly. And if you smash your rod into a car door thats just negligence and its unlikely an ugly stik would even survive that.
Daiwa aird X is a good budget option for bass fishing that has many different powers.
But for the reel skip the BG and get an Ultegra. Just my advice
