Owned Hobie kayaks of various kinds over the last 12 years or so. Sold my Outback a while back and kept my Quest 13 which is an amazing kayak for fuss-free kind of fishing.

Im getting over roof topping it every morning I want to fish though, and am looking at a 10ft option I can slide into the back of my truck or "ute" we we call them here in Oz.

This will solve alot of my issues currently such as pre-loading the night before, and not having to manhandle a 4m kayak and military press it to get it on the roof.

I've narrowed it down to:

  1. Native Slayer Propel 10 LTE

  2. Vibe Makana 100 (and subsequently which drive is best for it)

  3. A second hand Hobie Revo 11

I love the layout of the Native Slayer 10 LTE as its got a flat deck which means I can stand and its light enough to easily get into the tub/bed of my truck.

Who has experience with these in either bay? Need some feedback.

I'll keep the Quest 13 for sloppy conditions and when covering distance as I have a carbon paddle for it and can cover alot of ground when needed.

I fish large open bays here in Victoria, Australia. Its not quite sea conditions but its a large body of water to give you an idea of where I fish (Port Phillip Bay and Westernport Bay if anyone is interested), also smaller lakes for trout and bream in rivers for a bit more context.

Thanks in advance

Im 5'6 and about 175lbs for reference

thanks guys

  1. I don’t have personal experience, i have the Slayer max 10 but my buddy i fish with has the LTE and he loves it. He drives a Tacoma which is a smaller truck and it fits great in the bed of the truck, he easily fishes standing up most of the time. He’s had it for a few years now and says he loves it
