I got him today and my roommate caught this video of it doing this, is it something to do with the swimbladder? Should I put him down?

Take it out immediately and put it in warmer water in the dark!!!
If it lives through the night give it peas to eat in the morning

If this fish was in a tank that was too big when it was a fry then it could have swimming bladder issues as well, I’m going to be honest with you your fish is going to die but your best bet is to get it out of the light immediately in warmer water

  3. Was this fish exposed to untreated tap water at any point?
I had 3 discus die after showing this symptoms because I didnt pretreat my tap water at water changes. Bit of chlorine can burn fish gills and affect swim bladder functions.

  4. Could be sudden change in environment. Was it floated in its store bag on top of the tank to equalise temperature and then allowed a little water to mix for a couple hours before allowing it to fully go in?

    Fingers crossed for him
