This stupid fish will spit out any pellets or dry food I give him, from bug bites to freeze dried bloodworms, anyways I've been feeding him frozen mysis shrimp daily and bloodworms about once a week, but i know it's definitely not balanced enough, anything else i should be adding to his diet? or other foods to try that have worked for others?

Pic for fish tax :p

There’s a lot of variety in frozen food – brine shrimp, tubifex worms, copepods, daphnia, rotifers all can go with the mysis and blood worms.

Ultra Fresh Betta Pro Shrimp Patties are a dry food that’s eagerly eaten in this house occasionally, though mostly feed a wide variety of frozen.

  2. I had this problem too, just let him be hungry until he starts eating the dry food, that’s what worked for me.

  3. I’d get live blackworms if you can, they are a very nutritious diet for them. Mine love hunting for them too

  4. Nothing wrong with eating only frozen. If anything, he’s smart and knows what’s good lol Mine are only fed live and frozen. The pellets are used to feed the worm cultures.

You can get him a variety of frozen foods like artemia, mosquito larvae, daphnia and rotate it throughout the week. Then there’s also live foods if you’re not squeamish like tubifex worms, whiteworms, blackworms and all I listed for frozen in live form!
