I recently got a 14 gal cube tank and paid a pretty good bit for this peice of drift wood. Now im kinda regretting this choice as im not loving the look of it. it seems too big for the tank estheticly.

I like heavily planted tanks and I feel like this doesn't leave much room for more plants.

is the drift wood too big for the tank or am I just being dramatic?

any advice for making it look better?

  1. Since you already have it, I say keep trying it. Plants often end up hiding driftwood. I’ve had some amazing driftwood get mostly covered up. You have a chance of the driftwood actually remaining visible once things grow in.

That said, it is also taking up a lot of space. It looks great but you have less swimming room.

I absolutely love the look of it, but just bear in mind it’s taking up a big chunk of water so buy fish accordingly. Pearl Danios or Chili Rasboras would look awesome imo.

  3. I like it but if you don’t take it out. One day buy a larger tank to show that awesome wood in.

  4. Nope, I think this looks awesome. Watch out for snails, they’ll be able to scuddle up and out

  5. I think water amplifies its size. Once you get some plants and a carpet, it’ll look much better. I say keep going and see what happens!

i personally love it, i’d glue a bunch of anubias nana all over the driftwood for an overgrown look

  7. You should be careful if the wood is touching the glass from one end of the aquarium to the other. I’ve heard that the wood can expand when submerged in water, then can crack your glass if it doesn’t have room to expand.
