This is my first tank, I am cycling currently and want a betta. I was really eager to start, long story short in the span of cycling my tank I realized how uneducated I was and this is the progress! It’s cloudy because I just added the new plants and stirred up stuff. I also ordered a floating log, feeding ring and I want to find some dwarf water Lettuce somewhere local. Besides those, any other suggestions or tips for a new betta owner?

driftwood and more plants would look gorgeous in here! 🤍 long finned bettas get tired more easily, and will often rest on plants, plus it helps give them more places to hide and explore!
Liquid water tests, The more plants the better! Here’s my 10 gallon, heavily planted. The betta’s name is Diavolo!

you can get Limnophila sessiliflora which is a great starter plant!! can be both a substrate plant and a floating plant, they’re great nitrate sponges as well. they’re super fast growing. i had it as a floating plant and my long finned betta LOVED it.
you could also get some water sprite which can be either floating or planted. they’re bigger leaves opposed limnophila sessiliflora but they provide great resting spots for bettas as well.
The tank looks lidded. I’ve had some issues with floaters in a tank with a lid. It tends to trap a lot of humidity and have it end up on the leaves which some plants don’t like. If you don’t go with floaters you could probably raise the water level abit too
