I set up my first planted hillstream tank (29 Gal). Right now its being cycled and currently growing in well. I'm just waiting for the rocks to grow algae before adding my first inhabitants. My plan is to firstly add my Stiphodon group from another tank and down the line introduce some Hillstream loaches and other Stiphodon species and maybe a little group of White cloud Minnows. Any thoughts?

I see that wavemaker! Awesome tank. Most people throw hillstream loaches into regular, deep tanks without proper flow or oxygenation, they’ll absolutely love yours.
Only that you got to build my dream tank before me, its quite lovely. I would however like to suggest adding a few leaves in the low flow zones to get some of the benefits botanicals. I would also like to suggest maybe stocking with Panda Gara or Gara Rufa if it would suite your fancy.
absolutely amazing, also if i may ask what are the dimensions i wanna try a hillstream tank one day
Very natural! Looks like it’s off to a great start. I think white clouds would be perfect and at 30g you could have a proper little shoal of them. They are very fun fish to watch!
I will say though some of the rocks are going against the flow, which you would def see in nature but it kinda breaks the feeling of flow and movement of the water.
Nice ….👌🏻
