Howdy! Im headed out of town for about 8 days. Im debating taking my tanks with me, or leaving them. My ten gallon has an elephant ear female betta, 6 pygmy corydoras, and 1 nerite. My 5.5 gallon has a veiltail male betta and a nerite. I can set both lights on timers, but I am more concerned about their food.

I have some slow feeder blocks, but I have heard mixed reviews. I could also buy those slow feeders? Or I have heard I can just fast them (but I am worried my female betta might loose her mind and kill the Pygmies or something).

Should I move my tanks for the week? Or should I just go with blocks or a feeder or fasting? Thank you!

I only have a betta in my tank but i have an automatic feeder that i’ll leave on if I’m going somewhere for less than 2 weeks, I don’t know how soon your trip is but Id monitor it for a while first to make sure it actually works. If that isn’t an option I’d say slow feeding bricks definitely over trying to move the tank for such a short trip.

they would only need to be fed once, is there anyone you know who could? if not then i’d recommend just doing a good feeding and water change before leaving

the corydoras and snails will eat algae and plant matter, id just be worried about the betta.

Don’t use those awful white slow feeder things. Honestly I’d just leave the fish and go! Unless you have babies, most fish will be ok with 8 days no food.
