I am new to fishing and when I bought my rod and reel, I thought that it would be good to get a float as well, as it was quite cheap, but I’m not sure on how to use it or what the name of the this type of float is. I have gone out fishing before using my friend’s equipment, but I have just looked at the tip of the rod, whether if it moved or not.
What is this type of float and how do I use it?

You have to see what kind of bobber it is. Does it have a removable stick that goes on top of it, does it have a hole that goes through it, is there something on top that you can push that would reveal a little hook underneath it, or does it a spring+ring at the bottom?

I don’t use a bobber since I mostly bass fish but u can catch just about anything with a bobber/float if u put some worms on it and float it a foot or two off the bottom
