This guy is so dedicated to making bubble nest every day! Whenever I change the water, he just starts a new one. He’s never even met a female fish before… should I get him a female fish? It looks like he’s really hoping to become a dad! 🥺

Bubble nests just mean sexual maturity or contentedness. Animals don’t have wants to be parents and the world doesn’t need more bettas unless you know their lineage and have the proper education on handling their spawn. You also can’t cohab a male and a female. One will kill the other.
DO NOT GET A FEMALE they will kill each other
Please do not get a female for him. Unless you have a giant tank or 100-500+ 5 gallon tanks you can’t take care of that many fry. Leave the breeding to experienced breeders, don’t risk the health of your betta and another female just to “make him happy” or anything like that, bettas can be aggressive during breeding and hurt eachother.
If you don’t know why they make bubble nests then you shouldn’t be breeding them. bettas are a genetic MESS. do not breed unless you do TONS and I mean LOTS of research, get two well bred bettas and have a hugggeee tank for all the babies. breeding bettas without knowledge just causes more suffering and messy genetics
God no. He’s just hit sexual maturity. Would you also get your cats and dogs partners to breed every time they go in heat or hump a pillow? I sure hope not. Doesn’t sound like you’re too familiar with bettas to begin with if this is your first thought, but understand that if you were to get him a female, you would be actively contributing to the abysmal state of betta genetics, creating more sickly low quality short lived fish. If any of the fry even make it that far into adulthood, and if the parents even survive breeding.
Please do not get a female for him. Its, overall, a bad idea. Potential fighting, death, lots of fry that you’ll have to raise or cull then rehome, and genetic issues.
I think you’re humanizing him a little too much right here. He’s just following his instincts to create a bubble nest. It doesn’t mean he’s lonely or wants to be a dad.
You’re anthropomorphizing a fish, he doesn’t have an urge to be a dad lmao.
