Today, I bought this fishing rod because I will be going fishing again for the first time since 2015 (funnily, I didn't catch any fish that year, but I'll probably have some luck this year). Like the title suggests, my cat tried playing with the bait… I am hiding the rod from him.

Cats are nothing but land fish. They need their own fishing rod with a nice toy on the end (there are 3D printable ones if you have a 3D printer)
I take old broken crank baits and an ice fishing rod and cast for my cats. They love it. Pull the hooks out first 😉
My daughter has three short rods that I think of ultralights she bought specifically to dangle “toys” in front of her cats.
A bunch of the attractors look like serious flies/ jigs but absent hooks.
Can you post a picture of the bait haha? I’d love to help you set up a better bait presentation maybe! I’ve been fishing for years and love helping people get into it
Cat fishing
I put a little plastic bell and some paper on a fluorocarbon leader and go out and play with my cat occasionally. The walk byers look at me strange, but me and my cat are having fun.
Makes it feel like my rod and reel is just a expensive cat toy. Just put it in a safe place so the cat can’t get to it, I’ve had to change knobs on the reel because the cat wanted to play when I didn’t.
It’s good fun. We all like to see cats jump like crazy.
