We have a Beta Koi "Tigger" (a little over a year ago) who has recently developed this habit of lounging on the heater in its 10 gallon tank. We have checked the PH levels, confirmed the heater is working. The tank currently has 3 tetras, 3 harleys, 1 corydora, 5 ghost shrimp and 2 clams and several live plants that came heavily recommended. As of a week ago, the ghost shrimp and Harleys were added, but no other changes. The tetras and clams have been in there for well over a month. I added a pic of Tigger's current favorite spot. I also checked the water to see if a film had developed that was sticky but right now theres just bubbles where the plants are and no thickness to the water level. Am I missing something or has Tigger just developed a lounging spot innhis "old age."

Do you have anything for him to rest on near the surface besides the heater?
He probably is just resting on it. they rest near surface so if you don’t have any floating plants or hammocks, things why
Looks like he’s resting, when my guy was hanging around the heater I put a resting leaf about an inch down from the water line. He loves it.

What’s your water temp at?
Get some tall plans with thick leaves, I like Amazon sword! They just like to hangout. I don’t like fake plants too much because of how delicate bettas fins are, but if you’re unable to find and aquatic plants they do sell plastic resting leaves.
Not directly related to your post but Corydoras and tetras need to be in groups of at least 6 to be happy, just an FYI! On their own they’ll get really stressed out.
