What lure ratings do you consider Medium power for a spinning rod?
NRX+ 852c JWR Medium – 1/8-3/8
Or
Expride 7’ Medium – 3/16-3/8
Or
P5 Windbuster 7’2” Medium – 1/4-5/8

3/8 and heavier I throw on casting gear.
I much prefer a baitcaster over spinning gear.

Lure ratings don’t necessarily determine the power of a rod. A lot goes into that including the blank material and taper.

finesse swimbaits, bigger weightless stuff, dropshots…it’s kinda like my all around rating

Not being a dick but the rod tells you. Does it not show a lure rating on the side?

I don’t. I have a medium that will throw 6oz. I have other mediums that will throw 5/8oz. Medium is not telling you anything besides the manufacturer probably makes stronger and weaker rods. Fuck my favorite river rod is a light that throws 3/4oz. They give a lure rating for a reason who cares if they call it a medium light heavy extra heavy or your mother.

There is no standard for lure ratings or rod actions. Each manufacturer sets there own rating tailored to each specific rod.

Whatever it says on the side of the rod. Every rod is gonna be different. Every company has their scale of lure weights. If we’re talking like “true medium weight” I’d say it starts at 3/16 and ends at 3/8.

Saltwater guy. So 1/2-1oz is M power

Read the label on the rod. Don’t exceed that rating.

Loomis medium power spinning rods have been 1/8 to 3/8 for 40 years now.
Their medium heavy spinning rods are usually 1/8 to 5/8.

I have a medium action custom black hole challenger that’s rated for 1-4 oz.
