A friend and I were invited to fish a 50 acre overpopulated private pond in Georgia. We hauled in over Fifty 2+ pound Large Mouth!
You would think there would be a few larger fish mixed in, but no. The fish in this pond are stunted due to overpopulation. We could go back in a week and haul 50 more out and hardly make a dent in the population.
It was an epic experience to catch so many.
The filets are going to family, friends and some frozen for a community fish fry.

Southerners have it so nice 😭
Perfect eater size
I had a similar experience several years ago when I lived in Texas. He had the pond evaluated and was told he needed to take out 400 largemouth. A friend and I are responsible for probably 200+ between the two of us. They made great lunches for several months.
That’s gonna be a hell of a fish fry! LMB are tasty. I don’t keep them often but every time I do, I wonder why I don’t do it more often.
Yum yum in my tum tum!
Bass ponds make for great fish fries!
Tacos are my favourite way to chomp some bass. Definitely recommend!
What did you catch em on? I wonder if its best to eat them now when the water is cold or in fall when their meat is full of fat and protein. Bass are tasty you cant really tell if u mix it in with bluegill you would hardly notice. Makes sense to take them out now cuz these guys would destroy fry and younger fish in the spring.
That’s awesome! Hopefully you can go back in a few years and catch some giants
No such thing as overpopulated when it comes to Bass…
We have a 33 acre pond here in Texas that we do this at pretty much every year . You gotta do it so you can maintain a healthy environment for all the different types of fish in the lake. Plus we have a big fish fry with all our friends that’s always a blast. This year we had kid pull out an 11.4 pound fish at our fish fry derby and about 15 over 6.
Im glad that people post these pictures. Best of luck with the management
Where at in GA? I’d like to come help! 😁
I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!
Great fish fry
Must’ve been the most fun day
Same with my pond. Pretty much all fish under 2# are removed and anything over is subject to standard weight of 90% or less getting culled. It’s one of the secrets to big bass. I’m gonna cheat a bit tho and do an electro shock survey on my pond and remove the bulk necessary at that time.
