Betta Fish: My stepmom insists this is healthy… he has no heater or filter and is in a large vase :/ King betta she says
There is nothing I can do to convince her this isn’t a good environment; this is just a rant

It may be somewhat healthy but there’s no way its happy. Try and find her and article from a vet or something to prove it to her.

I feel guilty that I’ve done this a few times. They really used to push the idea that it was exactly what was normal for the bettas. We’d put them in a mason jar to swim around the base of our lucky bamboo plants.
I now have a betta in a 10 gallon tank and it’s soooo obvious that he’s got a personality and likes to play and explore certain things. He’d be so bored in that mason jar. 🙁
