I started fishing last summer, and got addicted pretty fast. All winter long all I could think of was fishing. The weather here in Colorado has been pretty warm for winter, so yesterday I started fishing again! Ended my first day of fishing in 2026 with two 3lb largemouths, and a 2 pounder. Today was another beautiful day at nearly 70°, and knew I had to go fishing again. So, at around 11am I got to my local lake. I just bought a new Megabass 5in Magdraft when I saw it in store, and wanted to give it a try since I've never fished a swimbait before. I tied that thing on and started fishing. I ended up catching a 2lb 4oz largie! I kept fishing with the Magdraft, but didn't get any more bites so I switched to a Cahtterbait. For the next hour and a half I didn't get a single bite.
At around 1pm I left to do a oil change on my bike, and after fighting the oil filter for what felt like forever, I figured I'd go back out and try my luck. I got back to the lake at 5:20, and fished with the Chatterbait, but again no bites. I figured I didn't give the Magdraft a fair shake, so at 6pm I tied the Magdraft back on. First cast I bagged a 2lb 11oz largie! Second cast I caught another 2 pounder! In the span of an hour and a half I caught 15 largies. All of them ranging from 2lbs to just under 3lbs. I didn't weigh all the fish, but I would put the total weight at around 36lbs. Most of them would have been 3-5 pounders if they weren't so skinny.

I have never had a day of fishing like I had today. It was insane! It was like these fish have never seen a swimbait in their life. They just kept hitting it over and over. I figured they would have told their buddies "Hey, don't eat that its fake!" but they never did.

It's safe to say that I'm on the swimbait grind now lol

My current setup:
Daiwa Tatula Elite TW 100 – TAEL100HSL
Daiwa Tatula Bass Rod 7" MH F – TTUL701MHFB
Seaguar Red label 15lb

That’s so awesome man, and just think… we haven’t even got to the prime bass season quite yet. If you’re doing this well mid march in Colorado I can almost guarantee you you have some even more insane days in the near future
