I got one for Christmas and I know it’s used for trolling but can it be used for other methods of fishing? I mostly fish on the pier or go to the beach. I really wanna use it lol

I don’t think that them being spiral/acid wrapped should affect anything when it comes to casting or fishing in that matter.

The thing behind these type of guide layouts is that they transfer the path of which the line follows from top to bottom. When they do that, it greatly reduces the amount of torsion/twist that the fighting fish causes. If the guides are placed on top of the blank, they naturally want to move towards the path of least resistance, which is located at the bottom side of the rod.

The reason why they are mostly used on heavy duty boat rods is because of they benefit from it more than lightweight rods, but it’s still beneficial for lighter rods too.
