  1. Thought I was in r/stressfulaquariums for a sec. I would absolutely not put that tank on that dresser. O.o

Look up the dresser and see what it weight capacity is. Then google how much 15 gallons of water weighs. Imo I don’t like it too much, looks risky.

Probably wouldn’t use that. I doubt you’re in NE WA but I have a spare stand that can hold a 20g in the highly unlikely event that you live nearby.

If it is sturdy and not wobbly, I “think” you are OK. It doesn’t look any worse than the rickety metal stands that have held 55 gallon tanks for decades. However, I would find something that I was “sure”about.

Is the plywood already splitting in the front right corner? This may be fine temporarily but I would be looking for or saving up for a proper stand.

  6. Suggestion: put a brace of some sort under that drawer to support the tank’s weight

You can install L brackets to make it a little heftier but… I’m a rogue aquarist and this gives me pause. See: 36 gal total water volume spread across IKEA Kallax.

  8. I’ve done worse.

The problem is that is particle board isn’t it? You wouldn’t want it to get wet would you?

  9. Yes most likely but I’d also expect the top drawers to start becoming more difficult to open and especially to close due the weight and it not being even distributed.

  10. The bookcase is almost certainly pressboard. That setup is a disaster waiting to happen.

Looking at that makes me physically uncomfortable, imagine 3x 5 gallon Home Depot buckets pouring onto your floor. It might be fine, but I’d at least center it over the drawers.

  12. Those paint tubes are going to express themselves in due time my friend, move the tank

Nope. I had a ten gallon on a ticket bedside table than that and I still reinforced it. There’s no way that’s holding that tank long term.
