First time?
Push out all of them.
As you get a feel for thumbing the spool slightly with the pad or tip of your thumb to stop it from “back lashing” you can slowly turn off brakes in pairs.
When turning off and on brakes be sure to do them in a series of 2’s and always across from one another. These are centrifugal brakes, if it is off balance it’ll make an ugly noise and vibrate as well as cause backlashes.
