I received my betta about 4 days ago. I tried to feed him a day after he arrived with a pellet. He shows interest in eating, but i think he cant swallow it. He will take the pellet into his mouth, then spit it out, eat the same pellet again, and spit it out again till it gets smaller or wrecked, so I don’t think he’s just being picky.
I also tried soaking the food, cutting it into smaller pieces, and even buying smaller foods, but he does the same thing every time. I tried decapsulated BBS but he doesnt even try to eat it. So I’m wondering if there might be something wrong with his mouth.
He hasn’t eaten for 4 days. He still shows interest in food, but it seems like he’s getting tired of trying. Please, what can I do? This tank isn’t his main tank, it's just temporary until he recovers.

Use garlic to feed finicky eaters
Hi OP, he might be stressed in this tiny holding cell. He doesn’t look sick so not sure why he’s in here and not a proper tank.
Try different food, frozen food (brine shrimp, chopped mysis shrimp, tubifex worms, mini blood worms) is great for them and you can wiggle it around to trigger their hunting reflex. They are carnivorous invertivores.
He might not like the pellets.
Ultra Fresh Betta Pro Shrimp Patties are a decent commercial food as an alternative.
I would try frozen foods(mysis shrimp, blood worms, brine shrimp, daphnia) to see if any are easier for him to eat. Also is this his current tank? What size is it, do you have a heater and filter? And what are your tank parameters?
It’s possible he’s stressed if he’s not in a good set up.
