It has been one year since I moved this tank to our new home.
No water change, rarely maintained. CO2.
Most of the plants are growing well, some exceptionally so: Bulbitus and Crypts were taking over the tank. I have removed about 4 kilos of Bulbitus before taking this video.
All the Discus died when I left for a one month holiday and the auto feeder malfunctioned.
The discus also ate most of my shrimps. They weren't growing much since I wasn't changing water anyway, so no more discus as I prefer shrimps.
Fishes: cardinal tetras, Bosmani rainbows, gold white cloud, cherry barbs, khuli loaches and a lot of bristlenose and peppermints and corys.
Happy to answer questions or take on suggestions.

That’s a beautiful aquarium:)
Stunner! I don’t keep certain fish that I want to keep because they’re shrimp killers and I love my shrimp more. 🦐
GORGEOUS setup and you said you’re happy to take suggestions so all I’ll say is you should be dosing minerals back into the water periodically while monitoring gH and kH to maintain a mineral balance, and you WILL still have proteins build up in the water unless you use something like purigen to remove them. No water change setups are definitely possible but many of them crash on the pH because the hardness and kH go to zero. Of course now if you’re using aquasoil that will buffer in its own way and you will get a 0 kH reading on tests which is normal.
I have a tank that I only do water changes on every 2 months, super super heavy planting like yours and a heavy bioload. I’m using inert seachem flourite substrate so I periodically dose human grade calcium carbonate powder to maintain kH and I dose Seachem Equilibrium to maintain gH and to benefit the fish and plants. Equilibrium is calcium sulfate, potassium sulfate, manganese sulfate, iron sulfate, and magnesium sulfate so it’s basically plant food (and intended for planted aquariums) but it also maintains your gH. It’s the only plant food I dose and growth has been bonkers with it.
Having said all that judging by the vibrant fish and plants I’m sure you already do stuff like this but just wanted to say.
