    That’s half decent for a beginner! A few notes:

    Do you cycle the tank first? I’d recommend looking up how to manage a fish in cycle and learn about the nitrogen cycle itself if you haven’t!

    If that pot is terracotta, I hope you soaked it first, as it can leech toxins into the water that are very bad for your fish. If you haven’t, don’t worry! Take it out, take out about 30% of the tank water (you can use this to soak the pot in for about 24 hours) and replace with dechlorinated water.

    I think your fish would benefit from a bit more space! I think from looks this is either a 3-5 gallon cube. Betta fish do well with more length to the tank as they aren’t fully top to bottom swimmers! They do swim to the top to get their oxygen for their labyrinth organ, but they like to zip back and forth!

    You did at least some decent research to have a planted tank, so that’s a great start! People here will be happy to help you learn more, and if anyone’s mean, ignore them. Everyone has something to learn 🙂
