Hi all,
I recently got a new betta last week and noticed his fins weren’t as healthy, so I wanted to take him home to give him a better life.
He’s been in his new tank (5g) for a week now and it is heated to 78°F. Parameters are: pH 7.4, nitrates 0, nitrites 0, ammonia 0.1ish. i’m gonna do a 25% water change today and add prime to help with the ammonia levels.
I was wondering if he has fin rot or if his fins are just clamped for another reason? He has a filter but I think the current was a bit faster than my other bettas tank, so I turned it off and I will get a sponge to deal with the current.
Please help, thanks!

There’s a chance the tank is not yet cycled based on stated parameters.
More info needed…size of tank and tank mates. For example.
From the single photo, it’s hard to tell as he could just be relaxed. . Does he look different swimming around?
Omg that’s opals brother. He also looked kinda like that, it will get better, the end clump type things are like new fins or something cause they went away and he has a lot more fin coverage in the back. And yea your tank may not be fully cycled yet, but don’t worry you already have the fish in. Just keep up the water changes unil you see 0 amonia 0 nitrites and a bit of nitrates
