Top water weedless frog, or soft rubber with hook buried deep inside, or even without a hook. I just try to make it the same weight as the actual lures I intend to use. They make practice casting plugs in different weights too that are just like pieces of plastic with a line-tie.

Im going to give most likely the only serious answer.

Set up targets. I like coffee cans to flip t rigs into. I set them in a zig bag pattern each a bit further from me then the last.

I have also set up dart boards on posts in my yard and Il tie on a 3/8 Oz weight to my line and chuck at the dart boards to hone accuracy.

Especially for bass fishing its so incredibly important to be accurate with your targets, that I use the winter to become more accurate in my yard.

  3. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a Spring Grass Caster. My neighbors laugh… real talk, I have the weighted plugs 1/4 , 3/8, etc and a practice my casting. Different rods with appropriate weights. I start by aiming for my kidney bean shaped garden bed edges. I’ve used street cones and tables to “skip” under… when I am feeling dialed in I set out rolls of duct tape and try to hit in those. Here in MN, patience with weather is key. We still got ice.
